Banned Books Week is a national movement to celebrate our freedom to choose reading material without restrictions. In some countries, the government controls what reading material is available to its citizens, therefore limiting a person's ability to form opinions and grow intellectually.

Although we aren't faced with those challenges in our society, there have been attempts to ban books in certain cities and towns across our country. Sometimes, parents are concerned with the content or themes of the book, and feel it would be best if their children weren't exposed to certain ideas.

What do you think? Should students' reading material be limited to what adults choose for them?
